Why VILIQ shows no Vietnam gold price yet, and what would change that
What this page is
A Vietnam gold price is not one number. It is a world price, a currency conversion, the world price expressed in dong, and what dealers in Vietnam actually quote — and the gap between the last two is what most readers want to know. VILIQ has none of the four today. Rather than fill the gaps with estimates, this page sets out what each layer is, why it is missing, and what would have to happen for it to appear.

The four layers
Each layer has its own state. One missing layer is not hidden behind the others.
- 1.International gold price (XAU/USD)Coming soon
- What it is
- Gold in US dollars per troy ounce. Every local conversion starts here.
- Why it is not available
- The benchmark gold price (the LBMA auction price) is reachable, but it is an administered benchmark whose commercial use requires a licence, and VILIQ does not hold one. No other licensed source for XAU is connected.
- What would change this
- A commercial licence for a benchmark gold price, or a data provider licensed to redistribute one. This is a contract decision, not a technical one.
- 2.US dollar to Vietnamese dong (USD/VND)Coming soon
- What it is
- The rate the world price is converted into dong at.
- Why it is not available
- VILIQ’s daily currency rates come from the European Central Bank, and the ECB does not publish a rate for the dong. No source of a current USD/VND rate has been approved. The BIS publishes an official monthly figure, shown on Markets, but it is about three months behind, so it is never used to convert today’s world price.
- What would change this
- An approved official or licensed source for USD/VND — for example the State Bank of Vietnam’s published central rate, once its terms of use are confirmed to allow display in VILIQ.

- What it is
- What the world price works out to per lượng or chỉ, before any local premium.
- Why it is not available
- It is arithmetic on the two layers above, and cannot be computed while either is missing.

- What it is
- What dealers in Vietnam quote to buy and sell SJC bars and ring gold.
- Why it is not available
- No licensed feed of Vietnamese dealer quotes is connected. A dealer quote is only usable with its source, time, buy price, sell price and unit — without all five it is not shown.
- What would change this
- A licensed data agreement with a dealer or an aggregator of dealer boards that provides all five fields.
What VILIQ will never do
A wrong gold price is a real financial decision made on a made-up number.
- Estimate or approximate a Vietnamese dealer price, from any formula or any other market.
- Build a USD/VND rate out of other currencies, or use an unofficial or unapproved rate.
- Scrape dealer or bank websites, or get around any access control a publisher has put in place.
- Show a premium when either side of it is missing, or treat a missing price as zero.
- Present a worked example as if it were a market price.
How the premium would be calculated
The method, published before the data exists, so it can be checked in advance. No figures are shown, because VILIQ has none.

Units are never mixed silently: a lượng is 37.5 g, a chỉ is 3.75 g, and a troy ounce is 31.1034768 g.
Every step needs a real input. If any is missing, the calculation does not run — there is no fallback value.

What VILIQ does serve
The official series VILIQ holds that bear on gold, drawn from their stored publication history.
The US dollar leg of any gold conversion. VILIQ serves the ECB’s daily reference rates, and the crosses it calculates from them.
